New Consistent Limits of M-theory
نویسنده
چکیده
The construction of effective field theories describing M-theory compactified on S1/Z2 is revisited, and new insights into the parameters of the theory are explained. Particularly, the web of constraints which follow from supersymmetry and anomaly cancelation is argued to be more rich than previously understood. In contradistinction to the lore on the subject, a consistent classical theory describing the coupling of eleven dimensional supergravity to super Yang-Mills theory constrained to the orbifold fixed points is suggested to exist.

Spherically Symmetric Solutions in a New Braneworld Massive Gravity Theory
In this paper, a combination of the braneworld scenario and covariant de Rham-Gabadadze-Tolley (dRGT) massive Gravity theory is proposed. In this setup, the five-dimensional bulk graviton is considered to be massive. The five dimensional nonlinear ghost-free massive gravity theory affects the 3-brane dynamics and the gravitational potential on the brane. Following the solutions with spherical s...
متن کاملNew Consistent Limits of M-theory and Coupling Constant Quantization
The construction of phenomenologically-viable effective field theories describing M-theory compactified on S1/Z2 is revisited, and new insights into the parameters of the theory are explained. Particularly, the web of constraints which follow from supersymmetry and anomaly cancelation is shown to be more complex than previously understood. One especially interesting result is that, in contradis...
متن کاملConfluences of Anomaly Freedom Requirements in M-theory
A topological fact about eleven dimensions is used to motivate a potential new duality in M-theory. We complete the discussion of consistent limits of M-theory raised in a previous paper [1], to include gravitational anomaly cancelation and four-form flux quantization in the context of the M × S1/Z2 compactifications. A suprise is found: If one includes a Z2 anomaly which exists only in 8k + 3 ...
متن کاملA new algorithm for optimum open pit design: Floating cone method III
Ultimate limits of an open pit, which define its size and shape at the end of the mine’s life, is the pit with the highest profit value. A number of algorithms such as floating or moving cone method, floating cone method II and the corrected forms of this method, the Korobov algorithm and the corrected form of this method, dynamic programming and the Lerchs and Grossmann algorithm based on grap...
متن کاملSize-dependent on vibration and flexural sensitivity of atomic force microscope
In this paper, the free vibration behaviors and flexural sensitivity of atomic force microscope cantilevers with small-scale effects are investigated. To study the small-scale effects on natural frequencies and flexural sensitivity, the consistent couple stress theory is applied. In this theory, the couple stress is assumed skew-symmetric. Unlike the classical beam theory, the new model contain...
